Three ways to learn
1. Private workshop: Pay $40/hour and get individual attention at a time to suit you and you can bring a friend for half price.

2. 6 week course. Pay $150 for 6 workshops over 6 weeks. Each workshop runs for 1.5 hours. (saving you $210).

3. Open Studio: pay $20/hour for the use of the studio space and tools. Miriam will be available to help you with your project and answer your arty questions

Course Details:

Mosaics for beginners

This class will get you started creating fabulous mosaic art. You will learn about:

• mosaic design
• using colour in mosaic
• how to choose appropriate materials and adhesives
• cutting techniques for ceramic and glass using various hand tools
• creating, grouting and finishing your mosaic

You will leave this class with a completed 25cm x 25cm piece of art that you can use as a wall hanging or trivet and with the confidence and knowledge to create projects on your own.

Advanced Mosaics

This class is for students who have some experience creating mosaics and are ready for more. You will learn complex mosaic design, using colour in mosaic to create specific effects, advanced cutting techniques for various materials whilst working on a project of your choice. It is a great opportunity to ask heaps of questions and accumulate lots of information.

Making your own mosaic tiles

In this class you will learn how to make your own ceramic tiles using clay. This is very exciting as it adds a whole new dimension to your work. Create feature tiles or a whole mosaic. This is a great class for anyone who wants to create completely unique art or for those who wish to personalise their work.

Teach the teacher

All the teach the teacher workshops are aimed at teachers of primary and tertiary students. See the mosaics in schools section for more details or contact us to discuss your specific needs. Can be delivered as half or full day intensive workshops.

Basic knitting and crochet

In this workshop you will learn all the basic knitting and crochet stitches. You will also learn how to read patterns so you create garments, toys etc on your own. Free knitting and crochet patterns and some materials are included.

Dimensional and freeform crochet and knitting

Once you have mastered the basic stitches you can start creating scultpural forms and dimensional work using patterns or freeform (this is where you create without a pattern). You will also have loads of fun using all sorts of materials to create different effects. This is a really fun class.

Sculpture

This class is for students who want to learn to create dimensional art using inexpensive materials and simple armatures. Try sculpting by removing material i.e. carving using wet cement or hebel (aerated concrete). Both materials require minimal body strength and only simple tools are required. Materials for one sculpture is provided and you can use our tools during the workshop

Intensive full day workshops

The six week course can be condensed into full day workshops on request. Prices will vary depending on the project and number of hours you choose.  Please contact us for prices and bookings.
